I work with natural light whenever possible and keep direction minimal. Rather than posing every detail, I step in when needed and give people space to settle into the moment.
Location matters too, and I choose settings that feel easy and make sense for the session, whether that’s outdoors around Huntsville or somewhere more familiar.
My aim is to create images that feel like you and still feel relevant when you return to them years from now.
Many of the people I photograph come back year after year. Not because things look the same, but because they don’t.
Making time to get together, even briefly, becomes a way to mark where you are right now. These photos end up in albums, on walls, and pulled out later when you want to remember how things felt at this point in time.
As a parent myself, I know how quickly it all moves and how easily the small details fade.
Whether I’m photographing newborns in the hospital, or your next family shot for holiday cards, I’m always thinking about how the images will sit with you years from now.
